Verified by Snopes.com - JURY DUTY SCAM
----
I am sending out this e-mail to inform you of a jury duty scam that is taking place across the country. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this phone call.
Most of us take summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of fraud has surfaced. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo; your identity was just stolen.
>>
>> The fraud has been reported so far in 11 states. This (swindle) is particularly insidious because the callers use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they are with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud. This scam was first reported last year. The link to the FBI website is attached. http://www.fbi.gov/page2/june06/jury_scams060206.htm

CREDIT CARD SCAm
At the Pima County Sheriff's site ANOTHER EMAIL SCAM
The email looks very official. What made me suspicious was that I had already received my refund.
I telephoned the IRS and was told that the IRS NEVER sends emails.
Clicking on the above takes you to the IRS site where the email scam is listed in the first paragraph. The false email logo is a copy of the official logo, and a copyright by IRS is listed at the end of the short email DELETE IT! DELETE IT!
In trying to copy and paste the email to send to you to show you how official it looks, my whole computer was hung. I had to shut down my computer manually.
I reported it as spam and deleted it.

POSTED OCTOBER 26-2007:
BAD Virus --CNN announced -- Snopes confirms as real.
Here is a link to the snopes page:
PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST!!
A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft
as the most destructive ever. This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon
by McAfee . This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where
vital information for its functioning are stored.
This virus acts in the following manner:
It sends itself automaticall y to all contacts on your list with the
title:
'You've received a Post Card from a Family member'.
As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so that
the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ delkeys or the reset button are
pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the
hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York
, according to news broadcast by CNN.
This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.
So don't open any mails with subject:'A Post Card from ' As soon as you get
the mail, delete it !! Even if you know the sender !!!
Please pass this mail to all of your friends.
Forward this to everyone in your address book. I'm sure most people, like
myself, would rather receive this notice 25 times than not at All ,
